Cressida – Curvy Cotton Underbust Steel Boned Waist Trainer Corset
I'm 5'5½", 135 lbs, and ordered a size Small, but I think an X-Small would have been a better fit as it was a little loose around my ribs and hips. This is a functional corset, not just a fashion or costume piece. I was looking for something with more support than a typical back brace, and this has been a great choice. It was easy to lace up and tighten by myself, and the steel bones are flexible enough to stay comfortable while still providing excellent support. The construction feels sturdy, well made, and far from flimsy. Even though the Small is a bit loose for me, it still supports my back and improves my posture. I can also wear it comfortably under my clothes without it being noticeable. I'll definitely be ordering an X-Small next time.
For reference: I am 5’5”, 220 lb, and wear around a 16-20 depending on the brand. I ordered this corset in both a 4X and a 3X. The 4X laced up all the way with some room to spare at the top border and the 3X fits perfectly with some small space left in the back lacing. I am so in love with the shape of this corset. It provides excellent support, tucks in right at my natural waist, has wonderful coverage at the top back where I’d normally have spillage over the corset and the bottom covers my hips and apron belly beautifully. I’ll admit it’s not the most comfortable to sit in (but I challenge anyone to find a corset that is comfy to sit in) but I barely notice it standing up, even fully laced. It offers a beautiful dramatic hourglass shape and I don’t feel squashed or overflowing in any way. I use many corsets in costuming and can confidently say I’d repurchase this corset many times over. My only complaint if you can call it that is that I do not believe the boning beyond the front and rear busks are actually spiral steel, they feel a lot flimsier than other spiral steel corsets I own. If it is, then great, but my point still stands that the integrity feels less sturdy than others I’ve tried. That said, this still is one of my favorite cuts by far and the lack of boning integrity would not stop me from repurchasing this corset.
Not only does it fit great but the material used is on the softer side and doesn't need to have anything underneath. I feel supported and comfortable in it and can't wait to wear it more!
